Course programme
If you have been working in a management role within the sector for five or more years but don’t hold a Class 1 Certificate of Competency, it may be possible to join by taking an additional Review of Learning module.
Professional Development
This element of the course is designed to introduce and develop the knowledge and skills required to engage in the work based learning process. You will create a professional development plan and learning agreement that will serve as the focus of your studies, and that will be agreed between your employer and our Business School.
Practitioner Inquiry
Learn and experiment with methods of inquiry to inform your own work or professional practice. Activities will enable you to gain inquiry related skills including critical analysis, evaluation and appraisal. These skills will help you to select, develop and apply appropriate methods of inquiry for your work based projects.
Case scenarios may include the analysis of the context in which a certain project is being undertaken. This will include your role, position as worker/researcher and the ethical implications that arise from this.
Negotiated Work Based Learning Projects
Adopting and managing projects such as personnel and health and safety will allow you to improve or inform areas of your own, or fellow students work.
The title of your qualification, MSc or MA in Professional Practice or Work Based Learning Studies will largely be determined by your choice of focus.
