The staff at the Pronunciation Studio are experienced ESL English teachers and linguists who specialise in English phonetics. We are located in King's Cross, central London and are open Monday - Saturday.

Chris has over 9 years of experience as an English language teacher. He has in depth knowledge of language one interference in non-native speakers and his knowledge of accents stems from having worked with students from all areas of the world. His vast classroom experience, extensive knowledge of phonetics and abilities as a musician have brought him to the Pronunciation Studio as an English accent coach.

David is a voice teacher, actor, and voice-over artist. He has over ten years experience teaching English pronunciation to non-native speakers. He has also taught practical voice and accents & dialects at many drama schools and privately. His years of experience as an actor in all the media and his broad knowledge of phonetics and accent studies are invaluable in informing his teaching. Erica is an experienced and qualified English teacher, actor and comedian. She has taught English in Mexico, Malawi and London and has over four years' experience delivering phonetics based classes. Erica's abilities as an accent teacher are clear to all who have studied with her and her extensive knowledge of non-native accents has resulted in her writing and producing new materials for the courses at Pronunciation Studio.

Pronunciation Teacher (IPA Cert, BA Eng, CELTA)

Joe founded the Pronunciation Studio in 2006 to bring English phonetics to high level non-native speakers of English. He is the author of the course 'An English Accent' which is used on the courses at the school. After studying English at university, Joe taught the subject in Europe and South America before returning to London to focus on phonetics. He is a keen advocate for phonetic learning to be part of all English courses as a key aspect to linguistic growth.

Lis Carter

Pronunciation Teacher (IPA Cert, BA Eng/Fre)

Lis has over 8 years of experience as an ESL teacher having taught in Thailand, Taiwan, Korea, China, France and London. She has a strong knowledge of language one interference in East Asian and Latin students. Having studied English and gained the Bachelor of Arts at Leeds university, Lis went on to direct and teach in schools across Asia. More recently she has been involved in the production of phonetic materials for a Taiwanese educational publisher.

Tom Wisniowski

Pronunciation Teacher (BA Eng, IPA Cert)

Tom has 6 years of classroom experience, vast subject knowledge, and solid technique in eliminating mother tongue interference. He has specialised in the acquisition and teaching of accents since completing a thesis on the subject in 2004. Since then he has taught phonetics to students from all over the world. Tom is also a proficient musician, giving his work an acute attention to detail. Tom is also currently involved in developing 'An English Accent' course materials.

Pronunciation Teacher (BA, MA Phonetics, IPA Cert, CELTA)

Zainab is an experienced and qualified linguist, holding an impressive collection of professional qualifications in the field of accent teaching. Her classroom teaching is energetic and direct, and she has experience in delivering classes to students from all over the world. Zainab holds a BA in English Language and Linguistics, an Masters in Phonetics and is certified by the International Phonetic Association. She has also qualified as a language teacher, obtaining a CELTA Cambridge certificate in teaching English language to Adults.

History

The Pronunciation Studio was founded in 2006 to bring high level spoken English classes that focus on phonetics, structure and intonation (sometimes known as 'Accent Reduction') to non-native speakers of English in London. Since then it has grown steadily, now it is possibly the busiest pronunciation school in London, with over 60 students enrolled on our courses at any one time.

Advantages of studying here

Learning and improving language skills is something that everybody enjoys when done properly in an engaging and exciting way. The first thing you will notice here is that we love what we do. Group classes here are an event, one to one courses are challenging and exciting. We are constantly looking for new ways to explore phonetics and bring the knowledge and skills to new people.
