  • Follow your own particular security pathway, which is worth 13 credits.
Mandatory units:
  • Communicate effectively with others.
  • Control security incidents.
  • Portray a positive personal image.
  • Reducing the risks to health and safety at work.
Optional units:
  • General pathway.
  • CCTV pathway.
  • Door security pathway.
  • Security guarding pathway.
How the qualification is assessed:

National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are work based nationally recognised qualifications, designed to benchmark the skills an employee needs to do their job effectively. They offer candidates a qualification in the workplace that relates to their job, and promote good working practice. There is no strict time limit for doing an NVQ though on average an NVQ 2 takes around 3-6 months to complete and an NVQ 3 around 6-12 months. A commitment of around 2 hours a week is required.

NVQs combine two aspects of learning:

1. Underpinning knowledge – the things an employee needs to know in order to their job effectively.

2. Assessment – An employee demonstrating, via their job, that they can apply this knowledge to their role. Continuous assessment will be covered by portfolio building a collection of evidence of carrying out the required tasks detailed in the NVQ. This includes copies of records and witness testimonies.

Venue:

We will arrange an assessment with you at your workplace at a time that is convenient to you and your colleagues. You are always welcome to visit our training venue and use our computers and printers to assist you in the competition of your qualification.
