The psychiatrist is a doctor specialized in mental disorders, he listens to the patient and follows his developments, can prescribe drugs, psychotropic drugs, tests and consult with other specialists. The psychiatrist is a doctor, and therefore a degree in medicine and surgery, who then obtained the specialization in psychiatry. This means that the psychiatrist has a detailed preparation on the biological aspects of psychic pathologies and that, as a medical graduate, he can administer drugs. His intervention is usually focused on pharmacological treatment, without however forgetting the importance of the doctor-patient relationship and the psychological aspects that fall within mental disorders. The psychiatrist deals with the treatment of psychiatric pathologies, such as depression, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, etc .. Generally a first visit is carried out during which a collection of the clinical history is carried out and, if necessary, an adequate drug therapy is set up. Subsequently, clinical control interviews are carried out, the frequency of which is generally monthly, although it varies according to the clinical needs and monitoring of pharmacotherapy.
