• Introduction to Research Methods in Psychology. 20 credits, core
  An introduction to the basic concepts and procedures used to conduct and evaluate psychological research.
• Thinking Psychologically at Bradford. 20 credits, core
  An introduction to the basic concepts and procedures used to conduct and evaluate psychological research.
• Critical and Philosophical Issues in Psychology. 20 credits, core
  An introduction to the critical issues inherent to psychology and its philosophical underpinnings as a discipline.
• Understanding Social Development. 20 credits, core
  An introduction to the major psychological theories that explain how we become social beings.
• Introduction to Counselling. 20 credits, core
  Develop knowledge and skills essential for effective counselling.

Stage 2: Level 5

• Issues in Counselling. 20 credits, core
  Further develop an understanding of the various theoretical approaches to counselling.
• Social Psychology. 20 credits, core
  The description and explanation of human behaviour in situations where people are interacting with others.
• Quantitative Research Methods and Data Analysis. 20 credits, core
  Expand on skills acquired in PSY4006-B and learn more advanced techniques for analysing data collected from experiments.
• Methodological Issues and Qualitative Research. 20 credits, core
  This module builds on `Introduction to Research Methods in Psychology` and Critical and Philosophical Issues in Psychology studied in Year 1.

  This module builds on issues studied in Becoming a Person 1 and 2.

  Investigate the structure of the nervous system, actions of neurotransmitters and the drugs that affect them.

Stage 3: Level 6

• Research Project in Psychology with Counselling. 40 credits, core
  Produce a dissertation reporting a piece of original empirical research, conducted under appropriate supervision.
• Cognitive Psychology. 20 credits, core
  Gain an insight into human cognitive processes including how people reason, think and perceive, and how we use language to communicate with others.
• Counselling in Practice. 20 credits, core
  Develop an understanding of the therapeutic process, from initial assessment, through to identifying treatment needs, designing therapeutic interventions, delivering these interventions, and evaluating their outcome.
• Abnormal Psychology, Health and Intervention. 20 credits, option
  A critical appraisal of a number of key issues related to the conceptualisation, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of psychopathology.
• Forensic Psychology. 20 credits, option
  Explore the concept of 'crime', who commits crime, assessment and treatment of criminal behaviour, legal psychology and psychology and the courts.
• Psychology of Health and Eating. 20 credits, option
  Become familiar with contemporary theoretical and methodological issues in health psychology and in the psychology of eating.
