We at AMBA training offer the PTLLS Train the trainer course as an intensive 3 day classroom based course. This course is designed to contribute towards the skills, knowledge and understanding of the professional standards for teachers, tutors and trainers in the Lifelong Learning Sector. The qualification provides an entry point and introduction for those new to teaching and training or those wishing to teach or train. It is the qualification for those seeking a ‘stepping stone’ to qualifications that entitle them to teach / train in the sector in either an ‘Associate Teacher’ or ‘Full Teacher’ role. It provides progression to the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS), for those seeking Associate Teacher status, and the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS), for those seeking ‘Full Teacher’ QTLS status.

• Unit 004 – Facilitate learning and development in groups.
• Unit 005 – Facilitate learning and development for individuals.
• Unit 006 – Understanding the principles and practices of assessment.
• Unit 007 – Principles of assessment in lifelong learning.
• Unit 008 – Roles, responsibilities and relationships in lifelong learning.
• Unit 009 – Understanding inclusive learning and teaching in the lifelong learning.
• Unit 010 – Using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in lifelong learning.
• Unit 011 – Manage learning and development in groups.
• Unit 012 – Principles of assessment in lifelong learning. Level 3 Course Structure: To achieve the Level 3 Award in Preparing to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) Learners must achieve a minimum of 12 credits. Attending the level 3 you will complete the following units: • Unit 001 – 3 Credits
• Unit 002 – 3 Credits
• Unit 003 – 3 Credits
• Unit 006 – 3 Credits
Credit Total 12 Credits. Who is a PTLLS qualification for? The PTLLS qualification is for new comers to the Lifelong Learning Sector – This means you don’t have to have any previous teaching qualifications or experience. The qualification is also ideal for people who already work in the industry but want to obtain an official qualification. Before you sign up for a PTLLS course it is a good idea to know what subject you would like to teach, so you can work towards the award in that area. • The professional role and responsibilities involved in teaching. How will I learn and be assessed? • This will be through practical lessons, group sessions or and a variety of assignments.
• You will need to display what you have learned with practical skills assessments together with theory of teaching assignments.
• In addition, you will have to complete 30 minutes of teaching practice. Keeping a portfolio of your Teaching Practice plus a Reflective Learning account Journal is encouraged. What is the right level for me?
Level 3
this is for newcomers to the Lifelong Learning Sector or those who have little experience and want a concrete introduction to the basic practical of teaching skills and theory.
• Level 4
this is for newcomers to the Lifelong Learning Sector or those who have some experience but with no formal qualification. How long does the course take? The guided learning hours for this qualification are:
• Level 3 = 30 hours
• Level 4 = 30 hours. What jobs can a PTLLS award lead to? After you have obtained the qualification, you can begin as an educator in the lifelong learning sector. The Possible jobs you can do include:
• teaching assistant
• learning support assistant
• Training manager.
• training instructor After completing the qualification, you can move onto other awards that will help you to become a qualified teacher or associate teacher.
• If you wish to become an associate teacher you will need a Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector
• If you wish to become a full teacher you will need a Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector Entry Requirements: There are no formal entry requirements. Learners are required to have evidence of Level 3 Vocational Skills for the area in which they will teach if they are to progress into teaching in the lifelong learning sector (LLS). Approved age group is 19+. Course Duration and Cost: The duration of this course is 3 days and Costs £399 in advance & £499 on the day.
