About this course
This full-time course merges the study of epidemiology, biostatistics and health research methods with public health skills. It will suit those with both medical and non-medical backgrounds who are interested in developing their research skills and public health career. Course lecturers are leaders in academic fields of statistics, epidemiology (chronic diseases and infectious diseases) and health services research. Guest speakers include public health professionals with experience in developing, managing and implementing interventions in public health. You have a unique opportunity to study two modules from the MSc in International Health Management at Imperial College Business School and to undertake an extra-curricular module on health systems, which is delivered by the WHO Collaborating Centre for Public Health Education and Training. There is also the opportunity to undertake the summer research project with a wide range of NHS and public health organisations. Global Health stream In 2013, we introduced a Global Health stream into this course. The aim of this stream is to train MPH students to contribute to improvements in global health. The course will be of particular interest to those who want to expand their knowledge on health issues in low and middle income settings. If you choose to follow the Global Health stream you will share a number of core modules with all other MPH students, and selected modules and lectures with MSc in Epidemiology. The stream will also include new modules developed exclusively for this course. These modules outline current global health challenges and provide insights into innovative responses to meet these challenges, within the context of a complex global political and economic environment.
All applicants must apply online. You can usually apply for up to two courses, although your second choice will only be considered if your first-choice application is unsuccessful. Most courses don't have a formal closing date, but popular courses close when they are full, so you should apply early to avoid disappointment. There may also be funding deadlines that apply to you. You will need to upload documents with your applications, which may include transcripts and degree...
