Description
Provides the student with a sound grounding in the basic concepts of mathematics with a special emphasis on the building blocks of mathematics.
Develops the student’s ability to use and evaluate logical reasoning and construct rigorous arguments.
Develops the ability to abstract the essentials of problems and formulate mathematical responses.
Develops the student’s oral and written skills as well as the ability to use electronic sources and tools, especially in mathematics.
Equips the students in problem-solving, starting from a analytical assessment and interpretation of the problem to a logical development of the solution.
Provides the academic qualifications for careers requiring deep mathematical knowledge and experience, and an appreciation of the applications.
Prepares students for a job requiring an analytical mind and the ability to apply logic in any situation.

Entry Requirements
A levels: grades AAB-BBB to include Mathematics.
Welsh Baccalaureate: Requirements are as for A levels where you can substitute the same non-subject specific grade for the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Level Core Grade.
BTEC: DDD plus grade B in A Level Mathematics.
Scottish Highers: ABBBC plus grade B in Mathematics.
Access to HE (Science): Pass with Distinction (to include 24 Dist, 15 Merits and 6 Passes) including 18 in Maths.
International Baccalaureate: 34-32 to include 6 in Higher Level Mathematics.
