About this course

Successful completion of the apprenticeship programme will provide the qualifications required to work in the security systems installation industry with the possibility to progress to an advanced apprenticeship programme, Level 3 QCF Diploma in Providing Electronic Security Emergency and Alarm Systems.

  • CCTV systems - commissioning technicians, maintenance technicians, surveyors and designers of closed circuit television systems (CCTV) technology
  • Access control system - design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of electronic aces control equipment and systems
  • Fire detection and alarms - design, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems

Additional information

Learners will attend training on a 'one day per week' basis to study the Level 2 Technical Certificate in Knowledge of Electronic Security and Emergency Systems, which contains the theory element. Assessments vary from examination based to written assignments. Whilst at work you will need to gather evidence of competence for your QCF qualification. The QCF is assessed by the gathering of photographic evidence, witness testimonies and on-site visits from your tutor/assessor. Apprentices are assigned a training mentor, who will visit them every eight weeks to ensure they are happy with their progress and that they are on track to achieve. It will take between 12 - 24 months to complete the apprenticeship framework dependent on ability and prior experience.
