Entry Requirements:
You will need to have 150 hours teaching practice and able to appoint a mentor who is a fully qualified teacher or trainer in your subject specialist area.

You will also need to have completed a level 3 or 4 initial teaching qualification, such as the City & Guilds 7303, 7302 or 7307.

Duration: Two years

Course Overview
What does the course involve?:

The new diploma course for trainee teachers and trainers is a rich blend of theory and practice, leading to fully qualified teacher status (QTLS) in the post-compulsory education and training sector. This in-service course replaces the Certificate in Education and is focused upon the development of your dual professionalism as a specialist in your chosen field and as a generalist in post-compulsory education. Several optional units are also offered as embedded elements within the mandatory core curriculum, including literacy and numeracy. The course begins at level 4 and progresses to level 5.

When can I study?:
Tuesdays 5.30pm to 9.00pm; Wednesdays 3.00pm to 7.00pm, Thursdays 9.30am to 1.30pm

Are there any exams?:
A combination of assignment and observed teaching practice.
