You will be exploring different approaches to qualitative research, including ethnography, phenomenology and grounded theory. The student will also be considering ways in which a researcher undertaking qualitative research collects and analyses data using observation and interviewing techniques. The key points you need to consider to help you critically read and understand published qualitative research will be identified, thereby aiding the student to identify situations in which qualitative research can be used in practice. By the end of this course, the student will be able to plan a research study using a qualitative approach and to write a research proposal for it.
