Radiation Protection

It is a mandatory legal requirement to attend these courses (Parts 1 and 2) once within a 5 year cycle as clarified by the BDA/HPA Guidance Notes.
This course fulfils Part 1 of the requirements for "adequate training" specified in the new regulations (Schedule 2). This course will explain the extra require-ments placed on dental practitioners by the recent Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposures) Regulations 2006. The course will clarify the responsibilities of dental practitioners under the new regulations and those of the association Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999:-

• Fundamental X-ray science

• Risks of Ionising Radiations

• Factors affecting dose

• Dose limits and diagnostic reference levels

• Legal duties and titles All participants will receive a study guide especially prepared for General Dental Practitioners. The Study Guide has colour illustrations and contains summaries of the legislative requirements.
