The aim of the module is to enable health professionals from various disciplines to develop and enhance their practice in the analysis of radiographic images of the appendicular skeleton.

Correlate clinical manifestations to radiographic appearances and pathophysiological processes.
Assimilate information and formulate clinical opinion through diagnostic reasoning and interpretation of radiographic appearances.

BSc in an allied health subject e.g. Nursing, Radiography, Physiotherapy usually 2:1 or 1st or evidence of level 7 study.

About this module
A systematic approach to the analysis of images will be emphasised throughout the module and you will develop skills in describing radiographic appearances and making diagnostic judgements in line with your own professional requirements.
- Skeletal anatomy and physiology, Principles of skeletal injury and mechanism of injury, injury patterns and post-traumatic sequelae in the upper limb including shoulder girdle, the lower limb, including the hip and paediatric patients.
- Understanding of associated normal variants. Benign and malignant neoplasms, Arthritides, metabolic and endocrine disorders including common pitfalls of diagnosis.
- Patient assessment and history taking including records and record keeping.
- The role of Radiation Protection and IRMER 2000.
