Applied learning

Live projectsIn your second year we start to focus your learning towards the world of work by encouraging you to explore the practical relationships between your various subjects studied, so that you can develop integrated advice as you would in practice.

This integration of learning is achieved through simulation days in which you work on an authentic project, working as a small group to delivery timely, relevant advice for your 'client'.Work placementsIn your third year you have the chance to put your professional skills to work with a placement at one of the major national or regional offices of surveying practices, developers or asset managers. Your placement year usually contributes 200 days towards your professional experience requirement for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' Assessment of Professional Competence.

Field trips

You test out your classroom learning in real buildings and real places by completing a number of field trips. These include local excursions, trips to UK cities such as Manchester, Liverpool or London, and a project-based or themed visit to a major European city.

Networking opportunities

The course has strong links with employers and other stakeholders in the real estate sector. Guest lectures by practitioners and networking events bring an opportunity to see how your learning relates to the world of real estate practice.
