The course is designed for students who are already employed in private practice or the public sector and who wish to make an immediate impact on their career.

The vocational nature of the course enables you to broaden areas of knowledge that are particularly relevant to your career development. You’ll gain a unique insight into the nature of property and property interests, and examine the complexities of the market for a wide range of property types; including commercial, residential, industrial, retail, leisure, and recreational property. Teaching and learning will focus on the valuation, acquisition, sale, letting, development and management of property interests, and the relevant law and practice underpinning these functions.

The Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation (IRRV) has accredited the Diploma for entry at IRRV Diploma membership and BSc (Hons) for IRRV Honours membership.

The course can be studied to achieve a Diploma of Higher Education (Level 5), or you can continue your studies towards the BSc Honours degree (Level 6). Upon successful completion of the Level 4 modules you’ll be awarded a Certificate of Higher Education. You can then complete the Level 5 modules to be awarded the Diploma of Higher Education in Real Estate Valuation. For the BSc (Hons) Real Estate Valuation a total of 360 credits must be accumulated; 120 credits at Levels 4, 5 and 6.

About this course

This part-time vocational Diploma/BSc (Hons) Real Estate Valuation course is for applicants working within the property profession.

- A Level: CDD – min.80 UCAS Tariff points (to include at least three A Levels.)
- BTEC: MMP
- GCSE: (Minimum five GCSEs) - English and Mathematics (or Maths Numeracy for Welsh applicants) at Grade C or 4 are required.
- International Baccalaureate: 24 points.
- Access to HE: 45 credits at level 3, of which 30 must be awarded at Merit or higher. (Pass at Literacy & Numeracy skills at level 2 are accepted in lieu of GCSE English & Mathematics).

Course programme


Structure

This part-time course is delivered by blended learning; a combination of teaching on-campus, access to a virtual learning centre with a range of teaching materials, and a vast electronic library.

Each year involves the study of four modules, which equates to 600 study hours. Campus-based teaching comprises two blocks of two-days for each set of four modules. There will be regular contact with module leaders and a dedicated personal tutor.

The normal time taken to complete the course on a part-time basis:
  • Diploma: four years, maximum six years (16 modules)
  • BSc (Hons): six years, maximum eight years (24 modules)
The course will be delivered through group and individual presentations, student-led seminars, case studies, experiential learning, and role play and business simulations. Modules are assessed through case study analysis, written coursework, and examinations. Guest speakers from industry and professional bodies provide a valuable insight, as well as regular networking opportunities.

The tuition fees quoted for 2017 applicants may rise in line with inflation, subject to government policy.

Part-time fees will be charged on a pro-rata basis.
