Entry Requirements
Potential candidates should:
Be at least 18 years old.
Have prior experience of working in the sector.
Show enthusiasm to work with children and young people and be working for a minimum of 30 hours per week and a maximum of 48 hours – this is inclusive of any study days at college.
Have achieved a minimum of Grade C GCSE in English Language and Maths, or a grade E at A Level or AS Level in English and Maths.
Have a suitable level of physical fitness to perform some aspects of the job roles.
Be willing to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check.
In order to enrol onto an Apprenticeship, you need to be employed in a relevant job role and undertake a range of tasks which would enable you to complete the Apprenticeship qualification.
Qualifications required for exemption from ICT Functional Skills are ICT GCSE grade C or above or ICT Functional Skills Level 2. If apprentices are not exempt then they will need to complete the Level 2 Functional skills in ICT which will be studied in addition to the Master Classes at City College Norwich.

Summary
This Level 3 is to develop knowledge and skills relating to the Children & Young People’s Workforce (i.e. those working with children aged 0-25, primarily within Children's Social Care & Support Services). Also suitable for those looking to join the Children & Young People's Workforce and those already working in the sector.
Course Content includes:
- Understand Child and Young Person Development in residential care.
- Understand how to support children & young people who have experienced harm or abuse.
- Support risk management in residential childcare.
- Support the wellbeing and resilience of Children and Young People in residential childcare.
- Support use of medication in social care settings
- Support the rights, diversity and equality of Children and Young People in residential childcare.
- Understand the care system and its impact on Children and Young People.
- Support young people leaving care.
- Work with families of Children and Young People in residential childcare.
- Assessment and planning with children and young people in residential care
You will complete Level 3 Residential Childcare as part of this Apprenticeship.
- This Apprenticeship will involve college attendance and off the job training.
- You will also develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours.
- You need to have an employer to support your Apprenticeship and be employed in a relevant job role.
- The typical length of this Apprenticeship course is 24 months.
