Young Film Academy is proud to announce an extraordinary opportunity for aspiring filmmakers. In April 2010, Young Film Academy is running a 10-day filmmaking school in Tuscany, Italy. This hands-on filmmaking course provides a unique opportunity for filmmakers and actors aged 16-18 to hone their skills and follow in the footsteps of cinema legends like Luchino Visconti, Roberto Rossellini and Federico Fellini - shooting in some of the most beautiful cinematic landscapes on Earth. (N.B: no previous experience is necessary).

Students will learn hands-on filmmaking skills from our award-winning tutors and put them into action to write, shoot, direct, act, and post-produce their own films set against the jaw-dropping beauty of the Tuscan Hills.

Villa San Rocco is a beautifully converted medieval monastery near the historic walled city of Lucca. The villa has has recently been restored to the highest standards, including formal Baroque gardens with adjacent olive groves. All teaching will happen on-site and students will have the opportunity to source nearby locations for filming.

During the course, students will sample the extraordinary artistic delights of nearby Florence with a day-trip to the world-famous Uffizi Gallery, taking in apassegiata stroll and an evening film.

Screenings of the students’ own films will be held at the culmination of the course, while back in London there’ll be a West End Premiere at a top industry venue for friends and family, complete with drinks reception and Awards Ceremony.

Students receive DVD copies of their films, complete with an exclusive Behind the Scenes special feature documenting this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
