Progression:
Successful students may progress to the NVQ Level 3 in Retail Operations offerd at the College.
Entry Requirements:
In our experience in order to be successful on this level of course you will need one of the following:
• four GCSEs at grades D-F (including English and maths)
• a BTEC foundation diploma in a related subject
• an NVQ Level 1/technical certificate in a related subject
• successful completion of the Gateway/Newstart course
• successful completion of the E2E/Prince†s Trust course
• equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.
In addition, you will need to be working in a related environment.
Duration: One year Course Overview
What does the course involve?:
Units include:
• display stock
• handling deliveries
• processing orders
• helping customers
• processing payments.
You will need to complete a total of six units (one mandatory and five optional) to achieve the full award. You will need to be working in a retail environment and have the support from your manager.
Mandatory unit:
• work effectively in your retail team
There are a range of optional units available, some of the more popular ones are shown below.
• Receive goods and materials into storage in a retail environment.
• Put goods and materials into storage in a retail environment.
• Keep stock on sale at required levels in a retail environment.
• Process payments for purchases in a retail environment.
• Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation.
• Display stock to promote sales to customers in a retail environment.
• Provide information and advice to customers in a retail environment.

Are there any exams?:
Assessment is via observation in the workplace and through a portfolio of evidence.
