Our Return to Practice course has been developed to enable nurses from the United Kingdom (UK) whose NMC registration has lapsed to re-register with the NMC, or, in the case of nurses from the European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA), who have been instructed by the NMC to complete a Return to Practice course, to become eligible for registration with the NMC and seek employment in the UK.

This course will include a 12 to 15 week placement at two shifts a week, in addition to university attendance of one full day a week for 12 weeks and homework.

Course programme

What will this course cover?

During this course, you will develop a range of skills covering analysis, critical thinking, problem solving and reflective practice, which are necessary to provide evidence-based, holistic care for adult patients and their families. The assessment strategies within this module encourage and facilitate the development of computer and information technology literacy i.e. the use of online resources to develop numeracy skills and the use of work processing software for a reflective assignment. Through supervised learning in practice you will acquire clinical competence and awareness of the health and social care needs of your local population.

Content will include:

  • patient safety
  • personal well-being.
  • adult nursing clinical issues.

Specific employability support is provided within the module, which includes guidance surrounding applications for employment, navigation of recruitment and selection processes, and managing the transition from student to registered adult nurse.
