Course programme
Under health and safety legislation the main requirement for employers is to conduct suitable and sufficient risk assessments. Indeed, risk assessments form the lynchpin of health and safety management. This course puts the emphasis on practical exercises, meaning that delegates will leave with the ability to perform risk assessments in their own organisations.
Course Objectives
To provide candidates with an understanding of the risk assessment process & its purpose.
An understanding of the practical application of risk assessment techniques
A thorough understanding of the specific requirements of lone, pregnant and young workers
Hazard identification techniques
The ability to categorise and evaluate risk
An understanding of the requirements for monitoring and reviewing risk assessments

One day, maximum 10 x candidates per course.

Course Content
Classroom based theory training to inform candidates of the relevant legislation / statutory requirements (HASWA 1974, The Management of Health & Safety Regulations 1999).
General principles of prevention.
Hazard identification & analysis, leading to risk categorisation & evaluation.
The development & selection of control measures including case study exercises.
The recording & reviewing of the assessments.
Course Certification
On successful completion of a theory test consisting of both open and multiple choice questions, and practical assessment using a progressive assessment report, successful candidates will receive a Certificate of Training in Basic Practical Skill and Ability.
Course Documentation
certificate of attendance will be forwarded to Employer.
