Course programme
The River Tame forms the eastern boundary of the centre and can be observed from a safe viewpoint.
This unit introduces the topic by defining the key vocabulary related to river features and processes. Pupils view the River Tame from a safe vantage point and observe and name a range of river features and find evidence of the processes of erosion, transportation and deposition at work. Labelled field sketches are completed and certain measurements relating to depth, width and speed of flow can be made. The small stream (a tributary of the River Tame) within Church Pool Covert provides an interesting contrast to the main river and provides opportunity to observe features and processes at a closer range. Field sketches and measurements can also be made.
