Description

For over 45 years, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University has firmly established its reputation as one of Europe’s leading business schools.
Long before ‘global’ became an important descriptor for business education, RSM’s students, faculty and staff were already reflecting the diversity of the globalising world and developing the school into a force for positive change.

Just like our host country, one of the world's most renowned and open minded international trading nations, RSM has continued to expand and internationalise, cementing its status as one of Europe’s most international and innovative business schools.

RSM offers a distinctive intellectual culture; one that is critical, creative, caring and collaborative, and committed to the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. We believe that leadership can be taught through a combination of intellectual and practical challenge.

We believe that the difficulties encountered working in diverse teams fosters creative new approaches in business. We enjoy a reciprocal, supportive relationship with multinational companies. And we encourage a flexible, broad and sometimes iconoclastic mindset in matters of business practice and research.

This distinct approach has helped RSM to establish a portfolio of top-ranked programmes, as well as one of the world’s largest and most prolific management faculties.

What I would highlight: I adore my classmates! Pretty sure I’ll stay connected with them after the programme finishes. I have not only build a valuable network, but also gained friendships. What I learn during studies is very important for me, but connecting with the people is an incredible experience.

What I would highlight: I am learning to connect. In order to be a good manager, you have to have all-around knowledge and all-around experience. The thing I’m learning here at RSM is to connect my own nature with other important skills such as knowing how to structure a company or department or how to do statistical work.

What I would highlight: I wanted to study and work at the same tome. The biggest advantage of this programme was learning how to persuade people to understand key points and see the full picture.

What I would highlight: I decided to do EMBA when I was switching from legal studies into legal traineeship. Lawyers can’t restrict themselves to legal issues, as we manage tasks within other company departments.

What I would highlight: You learn how to consider everything from different views; from a business leader’s perspective, from an employee’s perspective, from that of a supplier or a competitor – and that’s really important.

What I would highlight: Studying full time was not an option for me since I am a supply chain manager for Seara Meats, part of a very big group with 90,000 employees on five continents. So, this has been an excellent opportunity for me.

What I would highlight: The programme has really changed my way of looking at business. Accounting is usually all about the figures, but the professors here have taught us to look beyond the figures. It isn’t boring at all.

What I would highlight: Truly enjoyed the classes from Dr Bill Collins who teaches organisational behaviour. You learn that you are going to be a better leader when you really know how to manage yourself. I like the MBA because it teaches me about myself.

What I would highlight: What I have enjoyed the most was the personal leadership development and organisational behaviour. I come from the world of finance so, I didn't know many aspects outside of this area. Now, thanks to the management science I have really interesting tools for modelling business decisions.

What I would highlight: The programme gives you a new way of looking at corporate concepts, providing you at the same time the structure to link innovation to this traditional structure. You need to look at the history to be able to look forward.

What I would highlight: The EMBA takes up another 20 hours a week, plus, I often work around 60 hours per week. It's a hard combination but somehow you do it. The good relations with the students also helps you as we face the same challenges.

What I would highlight: The RSM MBA is so much more than content-driven -I feel more confident it’s like I’m holding up a mirror. I’m learning a new side of business, but most importantly, I’m growing as a person. My company sees it as an investment in myself and also their own benefit.
