Course programme

What Will I Learn

Students will be given the opportunity to study and gain practical experience in a range of land-based industries including agriculture, animal care and forestry. This course helps our students to reach their full potential. They are specially designed to provide an open entry route to further study and offer a first step on the ladder opportunity for students who may not yet be ready for higher level courses. There will be the chance to specialise in forestry, agriculture or animal care.

Subjects include:

  • Estate maintenance, skills for employment
  • Introduction to handling, feeding and watering animals, care of small animals
  • Tractor operations, introduction to crops and livestock
  • Woodland skills, introduction to tree identification and forestry

The course will run for 20 weeks, 3 days a week

How Will I Learn

The NC Rural Skills course is a combination of practical skills and theory.

Progression Opportunities

On successful completion students may be able to progress to National Certificate courses in or to SVQs at Level 2.
