This is the most popular course. It is aimed at beginners and covers all aspects of powerboating needed to get you out on the water safely.

The RYA National Powerboat Level 2 is the starting point for everyone including those intending on progressing to advanced powerboat. It is run over two days on either your own boat or one of ours.

This course has a minimum age of: 12 (Candidates under 16 will be issued with an endorsed certificate)

The course includes:

Launch and recovery
Boat handling
Securing to a buoy
Leaving and coming alongside
Anchoring
Close quarter handling
High speed manoeuvres
Man overboard recovery
Collision regulations
After this course, you will be a self sufficient Powerboater in the right conditions, aware of your own limitations and those of the craft.

Once you have completed this course you can apply for an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) without taking any further training or exams. NAVSAR will process this on your behalf at the end of your course should you require it.

An ICC enables pleasure users to charter a powerboat internationally.

The RYA National Powerboat Level 2 can also be commercially endorsed for those wanting a career as a skipper in the marine industry.
