Prescription Training has published two self-study workbooks providing the full Skills for Care Knowledge Set for Medication. One for residential care and one for home care/community care.

How much do you learn after traditional slide show training? The workbooks provide an effective alternative to slide show training as each carer receives their own comprehensive 'easy to read' workbook which they can study at their own pace, make useful notes in and make reference to as and when needed.

The books also lead to a recognised and accredited (by the College of Pharmacy Practice) Certificate in Safe Handling of Medicines and Skills for Care Progress Log, if an optional multiple choice assessment is taken and passed (80%). The optional assessment can be taken online of as a written paper for £7.50 +VAT. Alternative model answers to the question within the book are available to managers upon request, and workbooks can be signed off in-house.
