Safeguarding Children - Level 3

Course aims

To identify ways of talking with children about the impact of a parents mental illness.

Course objectives
■ To increase recognition of the impact of parental and perinatal illness on the children
■ To be able to use the assessment framework to consider the needs of children
■ To increase clinicians confi dence in being able to talk with children about the impact mental illness.

Target groups
Clinical staff in all areas including Adult, MHOA, and CAMHS services.
Training methods employed on the course Interactive, small group work, scenarios, self evaluating questionnaire.

Course materials and equipment
Handouts will be provided.
