History

Safer Food Scores is a team of food hygiene and health and safety consultants and trainers managed by Melissa Thompson MCIEH. Melissa is a director of the company and a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner. She graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with the HCIMA (now the Institute of Hospitality) Best Student Award before forging a career in the hospitality industry. Melissa worked in the catering industry for a number of years including a stint as a hotel manager for Holiday Inns, Canada. She re-qualified in environmental health and spent 13 years in enforcement (mainly in charge of food hygiene). During that time she was a Lead Editor and legal specialist for BTEC approving hospitality GNVQ exams. Melissa reached the position of Environmental Health Service Manager before moving into the private sector. She worked for one of the UK's leading consultancy for five years offering strategic food hygiene and health and safety consultancy to a number of prestigious national clients.

Description

We offer a wide range of food hygiene and health and safety training courses. Based in Herts and operating in London, Bucks, Essex, Bedfordshire and nationally, we specialise in providing training to the Catering Industry. Our specially selected trainers are highly knowledgeable in their subject areas. They are able to tailor the course content on the day for those with different experience, learning speeds and languages. That way, food hygiene and health and safety messages remain relevant and trainees leave motivated to make a difference back in the workplace. Plenty of work-based activities mean that there’s no chance of ‘death by PowerPoint’!
