The School of Geosciences comprises:* The Department of Geography and Environment - Holds an excellent reputation for teaching and learning. The 'Subject Review', carried out by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in 2002, gave it the highest possible rating in all the review categories. And the Education Guardian rated it highest for Geography in Scotland, and one of the top in the UK.* The Department of Geology and Petroleum Geology - Geology has been taught at Aberdeen University for more than 150 years and geology degrees have been awarded from 1892 onwards. Today the Department of Geology & Petroleum Geology at the University of Aberdeen is a recognised centre for excellence in petroleum geology research and training.* The Department of Archaeology - Established in 2007, it is UK's youngest archaeology department. Archaeology is the only discipline that offers its students the human past in its entirety, from the origins of our species to the events of yesterday.
