SCISOC 201 (Science, Media & Perception) – Explores different forms of science communication and media, analyzes examples of current coverage of breaking scientific topics, and evaluates the effects they have on people’s perceptions of science. Offered in Summer.

SCISOC 502 (Communicating Science and Bioethics) – Employs an activity-based curriculum to provide students with an overview of effective science communication strategies and best practices, and explores the empirical basis of science communication. For upper-division undergraduates and Masters students.

BIOETHIC 605 (Contemporary Issues in Bioethics: Communicating Science and Bioethics) – Second semester of a colloquium course required of all students in Science & Society’s MA in Bioethics and Science Policy program. This course develops student skills in communicating science to diverse audiences through practice and theory. Offered each spring.

SCISOC 702 (Science Communication for Scientists and Engineers) – Provides an overview of science communication for STEM PhD students, and employs a variety of practice-based activities to strengthen communication skills. Offered each fall.

Duke Summer Doctoral Academy course on Science Communication – A one-week course offered to Duke graduate students and postdocs, through the Office of the Vice Provost for Interdisciplinary Studies. Offered first week of summer.

FOCUS 195FS (Science and Pop Culture) – An Interdisciplinary Discussion Course (IDC) offered to first-semester freshmen at Duke as part of Duke’s Focus Cluster on Science and the Public. Offered each fall.
