Course programme

This programme is a gateway to higher education programmes for students who can demonstrate an interest in scientific issues. Applicants for the Science Foundation year do not need to have a significant prior knowledge of science but should be motivated to study the subject. Some people who like science have, for a range of reasons, not been able to follow up their enthusiasm. For example, school/college timetables might have prevented a student from following their interest in science and technology, family commitments might have precluded further science study, or a student may not have the requisite science background for a formal degree programme. The Science Foundation enables you to overcome those issues. Foundation students are very motivated, and a strong group identity develops amongst them. In later degree studies, it is possible to positively identify students who have taken the Foundation route by their self-confidence and capability in science.
