Secondary Design and Technology (Food) with QTS PGCE

This course provides an advanced academic qualification alongside the real-world experience in school settings. Along with honing your subject skills, you'll learn crucial teaching techniques including behaviour management and student support. This course ensures that you'll have the real-life experience you need to enter teaching.

You will take responsibility for your own development against the statutory requirements for QTS and will record your progress in a Professional Development Portfolio (PDP). This collaborative process involves you, university-based tutors and school-based mentors.

This course prepares you for a career in: secondary teaching; academic research via masters level study and a PhD; local authority/voluntary sector; non-government organisations (NGOs); enrichment work with young people; more general graduate careers including retail management and the civil service; Previous graduates of this course have gone on to work in full-time positions at their placement schools, schools in the local region and all over the country.
