Overview ​Are you considering a career in secondary physical education or sports coaching? This degree will provide you with the flexibility to consider both careers by developing broad, transferable skills that can take you into a career in teaching or sports coaching. We will help you to understand the concepts, theories and principles of coach education, sports coaching and teaching physical education.

About this course

Course Benefits Excellent preparation for studying a PGCE in Secondary Education or as a basis for gaining entry into the teaching profession via the range of opportunities that now exist.You will gain knowledge of sports coaching for a range of ages and abilities.Gain volunteering experience in the UK or through our partnerships in the USA, Africa or Australia.

Typically, our entry offer for this degree course is 112 UCAS tariff points.
Other requirements: For the old GCSE system we require grade C or above and for the new GCSE grading system we will accept grade 4 or higher in English Language and Maths.  GCSE Science is usually preferred but not essential.
We welcome students with a wide range of qualifications such as A Levels, BTECs and accredited Access courses.  We treat every application on its own merits; we value highly the experience you illustrate in your personal statement.

Course Information You will be supported to build your own volunteering and coaching portfolio alongside your degree in settings within local community sports clubs, professional clubs, schools and university student teams. All students will have the opportunity to achieve a range of additional coaching and instructing awards.  You will be taught by experts who have industry experience and are currently doing their own research, so that you are kept up-to-date with the latest developments in coaching and education. You will learn in a variety of different ways and we pride ourselves on the fact that a large amount of this degree is practicalbased, which provides you with real-life experiences where you can apply theory to practice, preparing you well for your chosen career when you graduate.  Read our full course terms and conditions.​
