You will learn all about making bridal gowns from Sheila-May, who has been making bespoke bridal gowns for over 30 years and had her dresses featured in various articles, including on the cover of ‘You and Your Wedding’ magazine! This is also an ideal course for those of you who want to make prom dresses and ball gowns. The skills learned are useful for all areas of dressmaking

You will learn:

the techniques required for making a boned bodice
why particular interfacings and interlinings are used in order produce a professional finish
how to apply piping
how to make rouleaux loops which are used for threading through the back tie fastening to produce a corset type fastening
how to apply invisible zips
how to produce a variety of hemlines for different fabrics and styles
fabric bows and flowers are currently very fashionable and you will make samples of a variety of fabric flowers suitable to add to bridal gowns, corsages and shoe clips.
We will discuss fabrics, veils and much more.
Time: 10.00-4.00 pm each day each day (3 day course) £320 (All materials included)

To learn how to sew special techniques, couture methods and professional finishes suitable for bridal wear, prom dresses and general dressmaking

This course is suitable for anyone who can already use a sewing machine.

Must be able to use a sewing machine

Maximum of 6 people allows for intensive level of work

This course is suitable for people who want to start their own bridal wear business, people who want to learn about making wedding dresses, evening dresses and prom dresses, however all the skills and techniques learned on the course are transferable skills and can be used in all kinds of sewing projects

You will be learning lots of sewing techniques and sewing lots of samples to make up a portfolio of your skills. You must be able to use a sewing machine and sew an accurate seam

Yes, this is a practical course and you will produce lots of samples to build up a portfolio
