Myerscough College in conjunction with the very successful 'Lake District Working Sheepdogs' have developed an introductory level course allowing a candidate to experience the opportunity of ‘running’ their own dog in the world of sheepdog handling and trialling or as a working dog.

The course is run in a very practical manner with group discussion and assessment, based and held at the delightful south lakes village of Crosthwaite, near Kendal. The tutor will instruct in turn allowing you to benefit from tuition with your own dog, those and the other candidates or if you do not have a dog, the tutor will provide theirs.

Ideally suited for any age dog from the puppy to the older dog the ‘clinic’ based course would suit for example:

  • Young pups to give them a head start
  • Inexperienced and young dogs
  • Dogs with problems and bad habits

The follow up to the course or individual plans can be discussed with the tutor and further sessions and training may be available with your own dog.

Additional information

Morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided. As held purely outdoors, you are advised to wear suitable footwear and outdoor clothing.
