These three, 10 week courses are designed to widen and develop your skills from Level 1.
Course 1: You will design and make a silver bangle, cuff or bracelet. You will also explore working with other materials and silver, for example PMC, recycling, using found objects and use of textiles with silver. You can also work with a mix of metals combining copper, silver, brass, and gold.
Course 2: You will learn a range of texturing and forming techniques to include reticulation, doming, fold forming, fusing, using the rolling mill for texturing silver and using hammers and stakes. You will then design and make a piece of silver jewellery using any of these techniques in your design.
Course 3: You will design and produce a piece of jewellery inspired by a silversmith of your choice. This will encourage an individual design approach to allow students to develop their own individual style of jewellery making. This project prepares students for progression on to the Level 3 silversmithing courses.
