History

I have been making jewellery for about five years now, it's very therapeutic and I mean that quite literally, I trained to be a pharmacy technician I worked for Lloyd's pharmacy and at the pharmacy at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, then I became ill although I tried hard to go back to work I found it impossible, and after a year off work I lost my job.I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and at that time I had no idea what it was, but I know all about it now. I loved the job I had and found it very hard being at home with nothing to do, bored stupid so I though about hobbies I would like to do and that I could do with my condition.......jewellery I love it but how great would it be to make my own jewellery to my own design, so I started making little bits and pieces and thats where the therapeutic bit comes in, it gave me something to focus on stopped me from turning into a cabbage brain, and the more I did the more I wanted to learn.

Description

I have done quite a few silver smithing courses and then I found Silver Art Clay "fantastic" an amazing material to work with and there is no limit to the things you can make with it. I have both level 1 and level 2 certificates in Metal clay. I run one to one and small group metal clay classes from my home in Swindon Wilts that I share with my husband and my little westie called Buster.I have had a huge amount of help and support from various people the Leonard Cheshire Disability ready -to-start program have been fantastic and I would recommend them to anyone who has a disability and wants to start up there own business. I am also a member of the Federation of small businesses. So thats me I love what I do and I'm happy to share it with anyone.
