Aim:
To provide an understanding of the fundamentals of AC Systems and Circuits.

Length of Study:
18 weeks with tutor support.

Entry Requirements:
It would be advantageous if the student had completed Circuit Elements and had achieved standard grade mathematics.

Contents:
Sinusoidal Waveforms, relationship between current and voltage and power in resistance, capacitive and inductive circuits.

Study Method:
Home-based self-study with tutor support for help and advice.

Assessment:
Written assessments. A practical exercise must also be completed.

Comments:
It would be beneficial for students to havea ccess to simple electrical equipement such ast meters and components. Access to simulation software would be an advantage.

Cost:
£105 + £7.50 SQA Fees.
