This two-day course is intended first line managers - those who have to, or are about to, acquire supervisory responsibilities.

Course Objectives/Key Benefits:
At the end of the course delegates should:
· Understand the problems of the industry
· Have an understanding of how health and safety law is structured
· Identify how their supervisory role fits in with the manager in controlling the site safely
· Carry out risk assessments and understand the need for method statements
· Carry out site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
· Understand what is meant by proactive and reactive monitoring and appreciate their need
Course Content:
· Legal responsibilities and health and safety management
· Fire and emergencies
· Health issues to include noise and vibration, dermatitis, asbestos, drugs and alcohol
· Risk assessment
· Hazardous substances
· Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
· Work at height
· Manual handling
· Accident prevention and reporting
· Tool box talks

Course outcome / qualification:
Achievement of Nationally recognised certificate (CDM - Competence - Benchmark)
Pre-requisite knowledge / qualification:
Construction site experience, with some supervisory / management experience.
