The Skills Track Programme is aimed at students who are undecided about their future career options or who wish to spend a year sampling a range of subjects before deciding which area to move into.

About this course

Students may progress onto other college courses at Level 1 or Level 2, to an apprenticeship or employment.

Vocational subjects are delivered in specialist areas of the College, on both the Lansdowne and North road campuses, by subject specialist teachers.


There are no formal entry requirements but to benefit from this course you must be committed to improving your qualifications and skills. Admission is by interview.

Course programme

Course Content

The course is designed to allow students to try a large number of vocational options. Students are supported through Individual and Group Tutorials.

Vocational areas may include (subject to availability): Brickwork, Catering, Sport and Customer Service.

You will work towards nationally recognised qualifications in Functional Skills Maths and English up to Level 2.

More about the course

It may be possible to incorporate work experience into an individual student's timetable. Students will have regular meetings with their personal tutor to ensure that they are keeping up with the programme.
