In football, the goalkeeper is the player who has the goal of defending his team's goal. For this purpose, he is the only player who is allowed to play the ball with any part of his body, including his hands. However, this concession is valid only inside one's own penalty area: outside it, the rules valid for skidding players are applied to the goalkeeper. The figure of the goalkeeper does not have a precise reference rule within the rules of the football game; however, the third rule indicates the obligation to deploy a goalkeeper; the twelfth rule establishes that it is an infringement to deliberately touch the ball with the hands, with the exception of the goalkeeper inside his own penalty area: this statement clearly highlights the substantial difference between a goalkeeper and a normal footballer. The goalkeeper, due to his differences from an outfield player, is required to wear a different uniform from that of the latter. First of all, he must be identified with a different clothing from that of his teammates, [3] in order to always make the referee understand, at any moment of the match, which player is the one who has the the right to be able to touch the ball with his hands within his own area, a faculty which is, effectively, the substantial difference between a player in other roles and a goalkeeper.
