If you are interested in the impact of globalisation on international development and how development and globalisation impact on the environment, then our BSc Geography and International Development with Foundation Year is the degree for you. It will give you a broad understanding of challenging issues ranging across social and cultural geography, environment and development studies.

The programme is ideal if you want a flexible evening course that allows you to explore and deepen your personal or professional interest in development and globalisation, without putting your life on hold.

You will choose from a wide range of modules that respond to the demands of today's workplace and are linked to the research interests of our staff. You also complete a piece of research or a literature review in an area of special interest to you. This programme gives you the opportunity to study with internationally recognised experts who are defining the field with their groundbreaking research.

You will also benefit from our mix of classroom and field-based teaching allowing you to build social and professional networks, and to develop important skills in data collection and analysis. You will develop the social and technical skills you need for both academic research and the modern workplace.

Our part-time Foundation Year degrees allow you to spread out your Foundation Year studies over two years. As the 'Foundation Year' is made up of 120 credits, as a part-time student you can take 60 credits in each of your first and second years before starting the main four-year BSc Geography and International Development. This means that you can take six years to complete the part-time degree with Foundation Year.
