Are you interested in getting involved in supporting other people? Do you want to learn about the care and development of other people? Do you want to find out more about health, social care, the children's service and community justice? If so then this is the Diploma for you.
This new qualification will provide opportunities for students to develop skills, attitudes and approaches which will enable them to meet their own aspirations and successfully work with, and for, others in the community and society in general.

Course Units The principal learning is made up of nine units:

· Principles, values and personal development
· Safeguarding and protecting individuals
· Growth development and healthy living
· Needs and preferences
· Anti-social and offending behaviour
· Supporting children and young people
· Patient-centred health
· The social model of disability

The course will also involve the completion of:

· Functional skills (English, ICT and Mathematics)
· Work experience (minimum of ten days)
· Personal learning and thinking skills
· A project
· Additional and specialist Learning (Qualifications to be arranged)

Assessment Eight units are internally assessed by assignment. Unit 4 is externally assessed by short answer paper.

Further Opportunities Students may progress to the Advanced Diploma (Level 3), National Diploma in Children's Care Learning and Development or National Diploma in Health and Social Care.
