Bucknell sociology & anthropology majors conduct faculty-guided research locally at the Coal Region Field Station or abroad in nations such as Botswana, Cameroon, Samoa, Morocco, Spain, Ecuador, India and China. Shoot and edit an ethnographic film, take a class with inmates at a correctional institution, or lead a seminar discussion on mental health and ritual healing. Our graduates are prepared for jobs in fields including journalism, politics, public relations, business, law, medicine and education. The possibilities for study and career paths vary as widely as humans themselves.

Course programme
Sociology examines human social action, with an emphasis on human diversity, social inequality, and the processes that govern groups, organizations, communities, cultures and nation-states. Starting with a broad foundation of introductory courses, you’ll focus on social categories including age, citizenship, class, family, gender, race and religion.
