A Software Developer Technician Apprenticeship will give you valuable experience within the Software development industry. Whether it is working as a Junior Developer, Junior Web Developer, Junior Mobile App Developer, Junior Application Support Analyst or Junior Programmer, this apprenticeship will pair you with one of the many highly successful local businesses specialising in software development and design.
You will come to college one day a week where you will explore and research the latest developments in IT software and programming, working processes and practices. The remainder of the week you will be working alongside the experts in the industry as part of the workforce of one of the locally based business.

About this course
You will need to show a strong commitment to pursuing a career within the Software design and development industry and keen interest in developing your IT Skills and knowledge. Ideally you will have completed a relevant Level 3 qualification.
On successful completion of this Apprenticeship you could work as part of a software development team, to build and develop software components whether web, mobile or desktop applications, or possibly continue your studies into Higher Education.
You will need to show a strong commitment to pursuing a software developer career. You must be over 17 years of age when the course commences in September with a current level 3 or A level as well as GCSE English and maths at grade C or above.

Course programme
The Apprenticeship includes the following modules
- Knowledge Module 1: Software Development Context and Methodologies
- Knowledge Module 2: Programming
Logic: writes simple code for discrete software components following an appropriate logical approach to agreed standards (whether for web, mobile or desktop applications).
Security: applies appropriate secure development principles to specific software components all stages of development.
Development support: applies industry standard approaches for configuration management and version control to manage code during build and release.
Data: makes simple connections between code and defined data sources as specified Test: functionally tests that the deliverables for that component have been met or not.
