This is a software development course consisting of 3 presentations or levels i.e. introductory, intermediate and advanced levels, designed to develop programming skills in C# using the Visual Studio 2013/2015 IDE and the .NET Framework on a Windows platform. The first introductory presentation consisting of 10 weeks covers the fundamental C# language constructs, the object oriented concepts of encapsulation, abstraction, inheritance and polymorphism as well as classes. You will be developing C# console applications to start with as you learn the fundamentals of the C# language and then later on towards the latter half of the course when you are proficient with the C# language, you will be introduced to developing Windows graphical user interface (GUI) applications. The 2nd 10 week intermediate presentation of the course continues to develop your skills in C# using features such as methods and properties, inheritance and polymorphism, the structured query language (SQL) and databases. The 3rd 10 week presentation takes you to even greater heights of C# using features such as interfaces, delegates and events, collections, generics (methods, interfaces and classes) and multithreaded programming.
Recruitment – if we do not recruit to our target numbers we will try to offer the courses at reduced hours. If a course does not recruit enough students to run, you will receive a refund. Please refer to the Part-time prospectus for guidance on other refund issues.
