On this one year course you will develop practical skills in spa treatments and work on clients in purpose built, specialist spa facilities. You will be expected to attend work experience for a minimum period of six weeks (one day per week).
Areas of study include:
Maintenance and monitoring of the spa
Wrapping and flotation treatments
Swedish massage
Indian head massage
Stone therapy massage
Massage with pre-blended aromatherapy oils
Anatomy, physiology and pathology.

About this course

At the College you can progress onto the Foundation Degree in Spa Management

Minimum of three GCSEs grade C or above including maths, English and preferably science or equivalent Essential Skills Wales communication and application of number or a related Level 2 qualification.

Course programme

Practical skills are assessed throughout the course during practical delivery and client sessions. Students will undertake assignments and written tests for each unit of study. Students will attend work placement one day per week for a minimum of six weeks, and this is an integral part of their course. You will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence and home study as directed by lecturers. You must be prepared to act as a model in all practical aspects of the programme.
