Combine a Spanish course with cooking classes!
What better way to bring to you the tastes of Andalusia than to take you directly into an Andalusian kitchen. Join us in Granada, the last Muslim Kingdom in Spain, and learn about the Arabic legacy still prevailing in the succulent gastronomy of this beautiful Eastern Andalusian region. Spanish cuisine owes a large part of its typical dishes to the Arabs. Although many cultural achievements from that period were forgotten when the Christians reconquered Spain, the art of cooking and baking has remained. You will learn how to prepare some of the most exquisite recipes coming from Al-Andalus times. Our teacher, Javier Vilchez, is a professional cook with many years experience in catering. He will demonstrate the preparation of special dishes, or a tapas selection.

About this course

To help the student to learn not only Spanish, but also discover the Spanish cuisine.

All foreign learners of Spanish

Age: 14 years minimum
Levels: A1/A2/B1/B2/C1/C2

Certificate of attendance (included in the course price). After completing a Spanish course at our school students can take a test to obtain the official SIELE certificate (155 €).

ENROLMENT
-Students can enrol directly through the school website
-After we have received your booking, we will send you confirmation of your reservation by e-mail, including the total amount of course and accommodation fees to be paid.
-At the same time, we will ask you for a deposit of 120 € which will be deducted from the full amount. If the advance payment is not received within the prescribed period, we reserve the right to cancel the reservation.
-We will reserve your Spanish course and accommodation on receipt of the deposit. You will receive the course confirmation, a written level test, plus information about your Spanish course and accommodation, useful details about your journey and a map of Granada, by e-mail.
-The remainder of the course and accommodation fees must be paid before the Spanish course starts.

Course programme

If you’re visiting Granada and you want to learn the best about Spanish gastronomy, Javier Vilchez can teach you, through different tailored courses, the most delicious Spanish recipes such as: meat, fish, vegetarian or mixed paella, Spanish omelette, salmorejo, gazpacho, beans with ham, to name a few. You can also join his Andalusian gastronomy talks or regional product tastings, such as extra virgin olive oil, homemade bread from Alfacar, dry-cured Spanish ham from Trevelez, Iberian charcuterie, Mediterranean vegetables, wines and the well-known piononos de Santa Fé.

SPANISH COURSE
Classes: 20 lessons of 45 minutes per week from Monday to Friday.
Group size: max. 10 students.
Levels: all Spanish levels.
Starting dates 2024: every Monday.
Timetable: from 09.00 to 12.15 h

COOKING CLASSES
Classes: in addition to the Spanish course 2 cooking workshops of 90 minutes per week during 2 afternoons.
Group size: from 1 to 2 students.
Starting dates 2024: every Monday.
Timetable: from 12.30 to 14.00 h (includes lunch).

Additional information

A Spanish course in Spain: learning a new foreign language also means learning about a different culture and way of life. We organize cultural programme every week, some examples are as follows: Conferences concerning present-day topics of interest or Moorish culture / Film sessions dedicated to particular Spanish directors / Visits to the Arabic bath Aljibe de San Miguel / Theatre shows and flamenco concerts / Guided tours to the Alhambra or the old Moorish quarter of the Albaicín / Trips to villages in the surrounding area, or to the beach / Trekking and horse-riding in the Sierra Nevada / Tapa Tours / Guided visit to St. Joseph's cemetery / Cultural activities related to Federico García Lorca.

Guided day trips 
On the weekends we offer full-day excursions throughout Andalusia. Day trips to Ronda, Seville, Cordoba, the Costa Tropical or the Alpujarra mountains are offered. 

Guided day hikes 
If you want to go hiking, you can take part in the guided hikes of the provider Sierra & Sol. Under the direction of Teresa Madrona Moreno, day trips are offered on the weekends in the Sierra Nevada national park or in the natural parks of our province.
