Course programme

This course is aimed at students who already have an elementary knowledge of Spanish, and who have possibly completed a one year Beginners’ course.

Aim to be able to:

  • understand simple spoken and written Spanish
  • take part in basic general conversations such as meeting and greeting, exchanging personal information, sharing interests etc.
  • get by in situations you may be in as a visitor to Spain or Spanish speaking countries, such as shops, hotels, cafés and restaurants, travelling, asking for directions, etc.
  • describe, present and future events
  • develop understanding of longer and more complex conversations and texts
  • widen knowledge and application of grammar rules

We will concentrate on developing understanding and speaking skills, and include writing activities and grammar (including past tenses) work to practise or extend conversation and comprehension skills. In addition, we will also develop listening skills.

This is a non-accredited course with no exam at the end but the tutor will monitor progress and give feedback and you will be expected to complete a ‘weekly record of learning’.

How will the course be delivered?

A variety of teaching methods will be used to ensure that learners’ individual needs are met.
