DESCRIPTION OF THE STUDIES
Spanish is spoken by nearly one billion people worldwide, which makes the ability to speak it quite an advantage. By choosing Iberian Studies (Bachelor’s program) at Vistula University, you decide to take up a language of tremendous global importance, one that is used not only in Spain, but in nineteen other countries as well, including Mexico, Argentina and Colombia.
Iberian Studies is a program for all those who have a knack for learning languages and want to learn to speak and write Spanish. The bachelor’s program will enable you to learn Spanish up to C1 level.
In addition to acquiring language skills, you will learn about the everyday life, geography, fascinating history, unique art, traditions and customs of the countries where Spanish is an official language. You will also gain practical skills related to translating various types of texts.

About this course
After graduating with a degree in Spanish Studies, you will be able to work:
as a teacher in language schools,
as an editor for Spanish-language websites and press outlets,
as an organizer and manager of cultural events,
in translation agencies,
in the publishing industry,
in international companies and corporations,
in NGOs, state and public organizations, cultural and educational institutions.
REQUIREMENTS
If you want to apply for the Spanish Studies program, you must meet at least one of the following requirements:
h) Pass your secondary school foreign language exam,
i) Be a holder of an English language certificate (B1 or higher).
A sufficient number of candidates for the studies is required to activate the studies.
Advantages:
Iberian Studies at Vistula University are focused on practical skills which means that:
a) The definite majority of classes are seminars and tutorials, there are hardly any lectures. Classes are conducted in Spanish and you can also attend classes in English.
b) Our students do the obligatory minimum of 360 hours of internships in companies, schools or other institutions. The University provides students with job placements, i.e. is responsible for finding a suitable place for such internships, often in the form of a paid internship or simply in the form of a work contract.
c) Apart from learning the Spanish language, which students should master at the C1 level, our students also attend obligatory classes of a second foreign language, achieving at least a B1 level.
d) Our students learn the basics of international business and communication, marketing, tourism and
hospitality management, the publishing market, etc.
e) We teach to employ new technologies in daily work and study process;
f) Our classes, workshops and seminars are tailored each year to our students’ particular interests and needs;
g) Our students and teachers create a dynamic multicultural environment.

The Spanish Studies program has been designed to provide you with theoretical and practical knowledge of the Spanish language as well as the culture of the Spanish-speaking countries in the most efficient way. So if you have a knack for learning languages, the Spanish studies at Vistula University – is a field of study tailored just for you! Practical knowledge of Spanish, as well as knowledge of the translation, publishing, and cultural events markets – this is what you gain by studying Spanish Philology at Vistula University.
INTERNSHIP
Vistula University values practicality, therefore our three-year program includes a total of six months of internship. Internships may be conducted in publishing and distribution companies, translation agencies, international companies, corporations and other institutions. Such preparation will help you to easily find the job you desire after completing your studies.
EXPERTISE
Our lecturers understand the importance of the practical aspect – most of our classes aim at improving your language skills. We run translation workshops for all students, which include press texts, audiovisual materials, administrative documents, and introduction to business, specialist and literary texts. The Practical Spanish curriculum is complemented by courses on the culture and history of the Spanish speaking countries. Each year, classes are tailored anew to students’ particular needs and interests.
