Students looking to enrol onto this course should meet the following criteria:
Be aged 16 Years or above
Possess a solid knowledge of the english language - Recommended GCSE Grade C Min.
Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course
Basic computer skills: e.g Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc

Unit 1 - Intro to aspergers syndrome

Understand what is meant by a spectrum disorder
Explain the differences between autism and aspergers syndrome
Name, identify and describe the triad of impairments
Know what theory of mind is
Describe the cognitive and emotional characteristics of aspergers syndrome Outline the function of specific interests in the life of a person with aspergers syndrome
Explain what is meant by sensory sensitivities, providing examples

Unit 2 - Aspergers in education

Identify the signs that a child in an early years setting might have autism Describe the play habits of a child with autism
Identify ten behaviours that could indicate a child in a primary setting has autism
Discuss what is meant by learning styles and their importance when working with a child with aspergers
Explain why transition across different settings can be difficult for children with aspergers
Outline the ways in which a student with aspergers can be supported when entering further or higher education

Unit 3 - Aspergers and health

Outline some of the practical things healthcare professionals can do to ease anxiety in patients with aspergers
Explain why optical and dental appointments might pose extra challenges for people with aspergers
Outline the relationships between mental health and asperger syndrome Outline the role of special interests in relieving anxiety

Unit 4 - Aspergers and employment
